Is it me, or is the BlackBerry browser a little Schizophrenic?

“Mozilla/5.0 (BB10; Touch) AppleWebKit/537.35+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.2.0.1791 Mobile Safari/537.35+”

Wow, that’s a lot of personalities.

Then it's dissociative, not schizophrenic. "Dissociative identity" is the more recent term for what used to be called "multiple personality"; schizophrenia is characterized by delusions (e.g. "aliens are sending secret messages to me via radio waves only I can detect"), often accompanied by visual and/or auditory hallucination. A schizophrenic doesn't alternate between distinct identities... that's dissociative identity disorder.

If you're going to use a medical condition as a cheap pejorative, at least use accurate terminology.

It's not that. There are websites out there who actively refuse to recognise BB10, yet they do recognise AppleWebKit or Safari. So they end up sending broken HTML to the browser which makes our browser "look" broken. It's not. It's far more compliant than all the other browsers. But we have to do this to stop the people who constantly bad mouth us.

Oh, I understand why it's being done, I was just pointing out how many personalities the BlackBerry browser has to assume to play nice with everyone else. It's sad that so many folks 'assume' the blackberry browser is sub-par without realizing its a full web citizen and better than Safari even.

As a long-time Blackberry user I've been very impressed with the browser on BB10 (Q10 for me). But it is a shame that BB10 is so rarely explicitly supported.
